About Fr. Wojciech Giertych, O.P.

Fr. Wojciech Giertych, O.P., is a Polish Roman Catholic priest in the Dominican Order. He served in the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household as Theologian of the Pontifical Household during the pontificates of Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Francis, and now Pope Leo. Fr. Giertych is also a consultor of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, a consultor of the Dicastery for Causes of Saints, a member of the Pontifical Committee for Eucharistic Congresses, the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas, and the Pontifical Academy of Theology. He is the author of several books, including The Spark of Faith, The Mystery of Divine Love, and How to Live by Grace: Divine Fruitfulness in Human Action.

In the mid-1980s, Fr. Giertych was a formator of Dominican friars in Krakow as the assistant Student Master and, from 1990 to 1994, as the Student Master. Beginning in 1984, he was also a professor of moral theology in the Dominican House of Studies in Krakow. In 1994, he was appointed an invited professor of moral theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, the Angelicum. He has continued teaching at the Angelicum, and he has given lectures in Krakow over the years. From 1998 to 2005, he was a member of the General Council of the Dominican Order, first as the Socius of the Master of the Order for Central and Eastern Europe and then as the Socius for the Intellectual Life of the Order from 2002 to 2005.
