Joseph Pronechen’s “The Fruits of Fatima” is a straightforward reflection on the supernatural events of a century ago, as well as related developments to the present. The Miracle of the Sun (October 13, 1917) was a captivating occurrence, set in a remote Portuguese village against the landscape of World War I. In the course of time, unfortunately, it too often has been forgotten or diminished in importance. Pronechen offers just enough historical information to support a modern reexamination of the events and their meaning, then and now. Years of development in understanding of world affairs and Mariology show the experience of the three young seers of Fatima and its message still have great bearing in the 21st century. “The Fruits of Fatima” is highly accessible and even explores ancillary details of the Fatima events, including many related historical developments. For those acquainted with Fatima, the book will offer a pleasing synopsis and compendium. For those unfamiliar, the volume will no doubt prompt an immediate interest and desire for a deeper knowledge.
